Creating a global energy transition - Now!
Our world currently faces a number of
existential challenges. Global warming is one of the most threatening. How we
deal with it will decisively affect the lives of future generations. The consequences of social inequality and inadequate prospects for the future which
many young people experience around the world every day are already tangibly
affecting modern Germany. The GREENLIGHT symposium therefore wants to provide a
platform allowing representatives of industry, academia and politics to share
ideas about the energy transformation. At the same time, the student initiative
GREENLIGHT
for Morocco will be
presented, combining the subjects of ‘sustainability’ and ‘support for
self-help’ programs.
The keynote speech by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.
h. c. Lieber, Rector of Offenburg University, will present an organizational
framework for Offenburg University student projects, highlighting the
particular social responsibility of engineers in dealing with the efficient use
of resources as well as the basic concept and objectives of the GREENLIGHT for
Morocco initiative,
developed together with the Madame-Ilsa- Foundation gUG.
The keynote speeches by Mr. Badr Ikken,
General Director of the Moroccan research centre IRESEN, and Prof. Ph.D. Ahmed
Ihlal (Ibn Zohr University Agadir) will present the latest developments,
innovative concepts and implementation of sustainable energy policies in
Morocco as well as the potential, opportunities and risks for Baden-Württemberg
companies in the Maghreb.
In addition, presentations will be given
on new cooperative concepts for the energy supply and smart homes interacting
independently in the energy network, as well as the digitization of the power
supply industry as a prerequisite for a successful transformation of energy
management. Contributions on energy storage, solar energy concepts including
aspects of interconnection between sectors and the practical implementation of
solutions from the internet of things will show the potential a smart energy
transformation can offer.
The event will close with a panel
discussion featuring the previous speakers and Mr. Franz Untersteller, Member
of the Baden-Württemberg State Parliament and Baden-Württemberg Minister for
the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector, on how the
transformation is to be structured and how appropriate visions for the future
can be implemented.
Alongside the presentations, students and
companies present innovative concepts and solutions in the GREENLIGHT village.
Experts from industry, politics and research as well as students from Germany
and Morocco are looking forward to having detailed and productive conversations
with visitors and responding to their questions.
Contributions to the symposium program show that Baden-Württemberg takes a
leading role in technology and has the potential to drive the energy
transformation not just in Germany, but also internationally. Benefit from the
‘energy’ and knowledge of our experts and find out about new developments in
sustainable energy production and using it efficiently, the impact of the
internet of things, big data, streaming and digitisation for innovative energy
management - be inspired and take part in the discussion.
We look forward to sharing the first GREENLIGHT
symposium with you.
Warm regards
